The Jefferson Hotel

The Jefferson Hotel of Richmond has alot of natural and artificial light. This picture shows one of the kinds of artificial lighting in the space. This wall light which is placed on a column cannot light up the whole area, however, it can provide a transition from one space to another. For example, a formal to an in-formal space or a public to private area.
This Grey scale rendering of the Interior of The Jefferson hotel shows the different intensity of the light penetration on the different surfaces around it. Different surfaces behave in vastly different ways when light is shone upon it. For example the matte finish of the wall paint will absorb more light than reflect it, however the marble surface of the column will reflect most of the light.
