This design of the Dining experience are mostly done by using ceiling mounted lights and just alot of color variations and different panels on each surface, whether it's a change in material or shape. The light that hits the certain spot will react differently and so the designer used this to purposefully translate or incorporate this into the lighting design. There is a sense of harmony created with color for example on the wall panels, there are three brightly lit yellow design which acts as a central focus. The floor is high gloss timber flooring, so it is highly reflective as in the ceiling; which can give the interior a more spacious feel.

All about Ambience and Reflections
This interior Dining lounge provides a naturalistic and glitzy feel, with materials such as glass wall panels and smooth ceiling and floor materials. Light will reflect and bounce all around the space. The highly contrasted wall of the darker dining lounge and the central more focused bar gives accents and provides a pathway around the space. There are lights everywhere in the space, from floors to wall and ceilings, as well as on the bar counters and dining tables.

Minimalist and Trendy
The curving slates on the ceiling provides a lot of contrasts to the pendant drop lighting fixtures which appears to be fluorescent lights are dropped down on every dining table providing an area of focus and contrast to the darker wall on the opposite side. There are wall mount lights on the darker wall to provide ambient lighting, this can create a path way or act as a stopping point for customers. Natural light comes from one side of the building, which seems to be more than enough for the spacious space.
Formal and Elegant
This Spacious, yet elegant Interior dining space has dim lighting throughout the space. It mainly uses incandescent pendant lights at different height levels to create various lighting intensities, this can provide a more spacious and natural feel to the space. The window walls on each side provides enough natural light source, and also gives off a very natural contrast and scenery to the night scene. The highly reflective polished Timber flooring reflects alot of light to the spacious space providing a great contrast to the warm and subtle incandescent light.

VCU Cabell Library and Starbucks Coffee
The ceiling lights above the reception desk in the Cabell Library are all fluorescent lighting fixtures which gives off an even amount of light througout the space.
The directional ceiling lights in starbucks are also fluorescent , this is very effective in lighting up a specific area, which in this case is the menu on the wall.

Student Commons
This space is mostly lit up by fluorescent lighting. The white color provides exhilaration and movement. Which helps the students keep going through the day. There are three types of lighting sources in the space, there is the ceiling light, the linear pendant light and strips of sky light.
The Ceiling Lighting Plan of the Specific Space
Shaffer Dining Hall, Ist Floor
The Shaffer Court Dining Hall has many rows of large Fluorescent drop lighting fixtures on the metal ceiling. This can save alot of energy and power. However, the long term effect can be dizziness and can also result in a headache. Fluorescent light contains alot of blue light, which can raise your awareness and keep you awake longer.
This rendering of the same interior space shows the three different kinds of lighting in the space. First there is natural light from the windows. The windows are transparent so most of the light will penetrate through. Next there are fluorescent pendant drop light from the ceiling, providing lighting throughout the space, and then there are wall lights on the columns which is shone on a specific area, providing focus.
